Being Brave

She has made major progress with the home health blood draws. She LOVES nurse Jeanette. She was actually excited for her to come. I never thought that day would come. We used to "avoid" our house for fear of a nurse being there.

We had the emla cream on 1 hr before she came.

I wasn't convinced she would make counts so we did not leave her accessed. She tricked me.

She hates the smell of the alcohol when they clean her skin. She at least tolerates it now.

The needle going in... Scott told her to smile so she looked up and held a pose as the needle went in.

There was a time when she had to lift her arms to get the blood flowing, so now she thinks it is a must. What a good girl.

I am proud of her progress. It can't be easy. The sad/good thing is...she thinks it's totally normal.

  2. Wow, what a brave little girl. These pictures have me in tears. I can NOT imagine the strain this is putting on your soul. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

  3. She doing so great! Daph hates the smell of alcohol as well. So I have her look up and I wave my hand at her nose to keep the smell away. It also helps cause we have the nurse push in the needle while she is looking up. So she doesn't get freaked out when she sees the needle.
